UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main replacement project in the City of Bethlehem and Lower Saucon Township on Monday, July 12, 2021. This project is part of the Company’s multi-year infrastructure betterment initiative.
The natural gas main replacement project will take place in the following locations:
· Wyandotte Street (State Route 378) between East University Avenue and Koehler Drive;
· The entire length of Koehler Drive;
· Wyandotte Street (State Route 378) between Koehler Drive and Sassafras Street.
Construction will begin at East University Drive. Approximately 3,300 feet of non-contemporary main will be replaced. This project will also renew gas service lines to 40 customers, most of whom are businesses.
Construction on Wyandotte Street (State Route 378) between East University Avenue and Koehler Drive will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Construction on Koehler Drive will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Natural gas main replacement construction on Wyandotte Street (State Route 378) between Koehler Drive and Sassafras Street will take place during evening hours, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Gas service line work will take place during daytime hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During construction, residents and drivers will experience lane closures and traffic delays. Parking will also be restricted during construction hours. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic during construction hours.
The project is expected to be completed by the early October.
