UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main replacement the week of October 2 that will impact the Borough of West Reading in Berks County.
The project will take place on the 200, 300, and 400 blocks of Penn Avenue, also known as 422 Business. UGI will also renew natural gas service to 31 customers as part of the project. Service line replacements require UGI to have access to customer homes to complete upgrades.
During the project, residents and drivers can expect to see constructions crews, changes to traffic patterns, and parking restrictions in work zones. Work is scheduled to occur weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. but construction hours are subject to change. UGI will maintain two lanes of traffic flow. However, drivers should note that turning lanes may be impacted.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-December.
