UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin a natural gas main replacement project in the City of Sunbury on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. This project is part of the Company’s multi-year infrastructure betterment initiative.
The natural gas main replacement project will take place on State Route 61 (Market Street) starting at Front Street and continuing east to 7th Street.
More than 5,200 feet of non-contemporary main will be replaced. This project will also renew gas service lines to 106 customers, most of whom are businesses.
Construction will take place in two shifts. A day crew will begin work on July 6 and work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. An additional evening crew will begin work July 11 and work Monday through Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.
While traffic controls will be in place, all lanes will be open during peak morning and afternoon travel hours. No lane restrictions will occur from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and again between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The project is expected to be completed by the early October.
