UGI Beginning System Upgrade Project This Week in New Columbia

Project Provides Opportunities to Convert to Natural Gas

UGI Utilities is scheduled to begin a system upgrade project starting today, October 5, 2026, in New Columbia, Union County. The natural gas main replacement is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service and is an opportunity for residents and businesses along the project route to convert to natural gas.

Work is expected to be completed by late December and impact the following streets:

  • Commerce Park Drive

  • New Columbia Road between Commerce Park Drive and Old Route 15

  • Main Street between Old Route 15 and River Road

  • 4th Street between Main Street and Cemetery Street

  • 400 Block of Center Street

  • Cemetery Street between Old Route 15 and 2nd Street

  • Chestnut Alley

  • Cherry Alley

  • 3rd Street between Main Street and Cemetery Street

  • Mulberry Alley between Main Street and Center Street

  • Second Street between Main Street and Cemetery Street

  • River Road between River Alley and Old Route 15

  • Old Route 15 between Main Street and Foresman Drive

Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday from 7am until 5pm. Drivers should expect lane and parking restrictions. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service that will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.

Weather and working conditions may have an impact on the completion date. After underground work is complete, final paving and restoration will occur later.

UGI encourages anyone interested in converting to natural gas to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com.
