UGI Utilities, Inc. is set to begin a gas main replacement project in Steelton on May 28. The work is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service and will impact the following streets:
- 3rd Street between Brewster Street and Lincoln Street
- Franklin Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street
- Jefferson Street between 2nd Street and 3rd Street
- Conestoga Street between North Front Street and Bailey Street
- The intersection of 2nd Street and Conestoga Street
- Lincoln Street between North Front Street and North Harrisburg Street
- North Front Street between Conestoga Street and Lincoln Street
Construction is scheduled for Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and traffic delays during construction hours. Parking will be restricted on the impacted streets during these hours. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service. This will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-September. Weather and working conditions may impact the completion date.
UGI’s gas main replacement projects also provide an opportunity for some homes and businesses within the project areas to convert to natural gas. UGI encourages anyone along project routes to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com if they are interested in converting.
