UGI Utilities, Inc. began a gas main replacement project in Allentown on Monday, June 3. The work is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service and will impact the following streets:
- South 12th Street between Colorado Street and West Cumberland Street
- Wyoming Street between South 12th Street and Lehigh Street
- South 11th Street between Wyoming Street and West Cumberland Street
- South Howard Street between Wyoming Street and Hoe Street
- Hoe Street between South Howard Street and Wyoming Street
Construction is scheduled for Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and traffic delays during construction hours. Parking will be restricted on the impacted streets during these hours. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service. This will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of September. Weather and working conditions may impact the completion date.
UGI’s gas main replacement projects also provide an opportunity for some homes and businesses within the project areas to convert to natural gas. UGI encourages anyone along project routes to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com if they are interested in converting.
