UGI Utilities, Inc. is scheduled to begin a gas main replacement project in Whitehall Township on June 10. The work is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service and will impact the following streets:
- Park Street between St. Paul Street and Fullerton Avenue
- St. Paul Street between 6th Street and Park Street
- 5th Street from Park Street
- 2nd Street between Chestnut Street and East Wood Street
- East Wood Street between 2nd Street and Fullerton Avenue
- Walnut Street between 2nd Street and Mulberry Alley
Construction is scheduled for Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and traffic delays during construction hours. Parking will be restricted on the impacted streets during these hours. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service. This will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of August. Weather and working conditions may impact the completion date.
UGI’s gas main replacement projects also provide an opportunity for some homes and businesses within the project areas to convert to natural gas. UGI encourages anyone along project routes to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com if they are interested in converting.
