UGI Utilities is scheduled to begin system upgrades in Hazleton on Monday, August 3, 2026. The natural gas main replacement is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service and is an opportunity for some residents and businesses to convert to natural gas. Work is expected to be completed by the end of September and impact the following streets:
Alter Street from West 20th Street to West 18th Street
Emerald Court between West 20th Street and West 19th Street
West 18th Street between North Locust Street and Emerald Court
Lafayette Court between West 19th Street and West 17th Street
Construction is scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm. Drivers should expect lane and parking restrictions. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service that will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment. Also, customers with natural gas meters that are inside, will likely have those meters moved to an outside location.
Weather and working conditions may have an impact on the completion date. After underground work is complete, final paving and restoration will occur later.
