UGI Utilities, Inc. is set to begin a gas main replacement project in South Whitehall on May 13. The work is part of UGI’s commitment to provide safe and reliable service and will impact the following streets:
- North Cedar Crest Boulevard between West Fairmount Street and Oxford Circle
- West Woodlawn Street between North Cedar Crest Boulevard and North Marshall Street
- Edinburgh Road between North Cedar Crest Boulevard and Aberdeen Circle
- Aberdeen Circle between Edinburgh Road and Oxford Circle
- Edinburgh Road between Oxford Circle and North 33rd Street
- Oxford Circle between Aberdeen Circle and Hampton Road
Construction is scheduled for Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm. Drivers, residents, and business owners may experience road closures, detours, and traffic delays during construction hours. Parking will be restricted on the impacted streets during these hours. There will be some interruptions to natural gas service. This will require UGI to have access to properties to inspect and relight equipment.
Construction is scheduled to be completed by mid-July. Weather and working conditions may impact the completion date.
UGI’s gas main replacement projects also provide an opportunity for some homes and businesses within the project areas to convert to natural gas. UGI encourages anyone along project routes to contact the company at 800-276-2722 or gasconversion@ugi.com if they are interested in converting.
