UGI Utilities, Inc. will begin the next phase of a natural gas main replacement project the week of March 4 that will impact the Borough of West Reading.
The project will take place on the 500, 600, 700, and 800 blocks of Penn Avenue, also known as 422 Business. Work is scheduled to happen between 7:00am and 3:00pm. Residents and drivers will see constructions crews, changes to traffic patterns, and parking restrictions in work zones. UGI will maintain two lanes of traffic flow. However, drivers should note that turning lanes may be impacted.
UGI will also renew natural gas service to 100 customers as part of the project. Service line replacements require UGI to have access to customer homes to complete upgrades.
Once this gas main and services are installed, the road will be repaved from 2nd Avenue to Park Road. Planned projects, and projects in progress, can be found at https://www.ugi.com/projects-initiatives/current-projects.
