UGI Utilities, Inc. announced its purchased gas cost rates will decrease on December 1, 2020 reducing the average residential heating customer’s bill by 1.1 percent. As a result, the average bill will decrease from $79.37 per month to $78.47 per month.
“UGI is pleased to pass along these lower costs to our customers as we enter the winter heating season,” Chris Brown, UGI Vice President and General Manager of Rates and Supply, said. “Natural gas remains an excellent energy choice, backed by local, low-cost, reliable shale gas supplies. UGI works closely with our suppliers to ensure our customers continue to receive strong value in choosing natural gas.”
Despite this decrease, UGI recognizes some customers may have difficulty paying their heating bill. Customers who are having difficulty paying their bill should call UGI at (800) 276-2722 to determine if they are eligible for one of several energy assistance programs, including the Emergency Relief Program designed to assist customers who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to company-sponsored programs, UGI can assist eligible customers in applying for federally-funded Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grants.
UGI encourages customers to use energy wisely and make efficiency improvements in their homes. Additional information on energy efficiency and customer assistance programs is available on UGI’s website at www.ugi.com.
